Ctrl + F to search for a key word

These settings in Internet Explorer (IE) are required to view VISCO documents. Please follow the steps below for each user's PC/laptop, including the PC/laptop they use away from the office. Occasionally an IE automatic update will reset the settings to the IE default, this means the user will not be able to view documents or reports. If this happens the user should follow the instructions below to reset their IE settings

Set up Trusted Sites in Internet Explorer (IE)

In IE go to: Tools, Internet Options, Security (tab)

Select Trusted Sites (green checkmark icon), click the “Sites” button

In “Add This Website to the Zone”, type, EITHER:

For Network installations:

http://servername. domainname/vis

//Server Name/VIS

.

For Hosted Webservice customers:

https://www.viscowebservice.com/your VISCO system name

(note: https)

Click “Add"

If checked, Uncheck “Require Server Verification…”

Click “Close”

                                                

Modify security for Active X components of Trusted Site in IE

From within IE: Tools, Internet Options, Security

 

Change Security for this zone Level to “Low”

Select Custom Level, Click Enable for the following:

• Download all Signed ActiveX Controls
• Download all unsigned ActiveX Controls
• Initialize and script ActiveX Controls
• Run ActiveX controls and Plug-ins

Click “OK”, then “OK” on the warning

Close out of Internet Options   

Create a new desktop shortcut called “Venture Information System”

1. Open IE, and type in the URL (From Trsuted Sites above) click “go” or enter
2. Go to File, select “Send shortcut to desktop”
3. Right click on the desktop shortcut, select “Rename”
4. Type in “VISCO”

Prevent the shortcuts to web apps from opening over existing browser windows

1. In IE go to: Tools, Internet Options, Advanced (tab)
2. Under “Browsing”, Uncheck “Reuse windows for launching shortcuts”

To ensure proper page reloading

1. In IE go to: Tools, Internet Options,

• IE6: Temporary Internet Files, Settings
• IE7 and IE8: Select “Settings” under Browsing History

1. Under “Check for new versions of stored pages”
2. Change it to “Every time I visit the webpage”

Enable cookies (required for VISCO security requirements)

In IE go to: Tools, Internet Options, Privacy (tab)

1. If the Privacy setting is set to anything above Medium:
2. Go to Edit, and add this site to the list of Allowed sites by typing the URL for your Trusted Sites (above)
3. Select “Allow”, then click OK

 

Disable Popup blockers for your VISCO site – whether Yahoo or other – you will be unable to log into the VISCO application otherwise

1. In IE go to: Tools, Internet Options, Privacy (tab)
2. If checked, uncheck 'Turn on Popup Blocker'

Modify your Excel Settings to allow the report to generate

 

Office 2003

1. Open a blank workbook
2. Select Tools
3. Select Macros
4. Select Security
5. Select ‘medium’
6. Click on the ‘Trusted Publishers’ tab
7. Make sure the bottom 2 options are checked
8. Click OK
9. Close Excel

 

Office 2007

1. Open a blank workbook
2. Click on the Microsoft Icon
3. Select Excel Option at the bottom of the menu
4. Select Trust Center
5. Select ActiveX
6. Select Enable
7. Then select Macros on the left bar
8. Select Enable
9. At the bottom click OK
10. Close Excel
